PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Monday summoned agency surgeon of Khyber Agency for ignoring two tribesmen in appointment in the Expanded Programme on Immunisation despite being qualified for the posts.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Abdul Latif Khan and Justice Lal Jan Khattak summoned the agency surgeon. The bench asked the agency surgeon to appear along with all relevant records about the appointments on the posts of malaria supervisor and medical technicians.
Muhammad Mustafa and Naik Muhammad Khan, residents of Bara in Khyber Agency, had filed the writ petition against the agency surgeon for not appointing them. Counsel for the petitioners, Syed Wilayat Ali Shah, submitted before the bench that Muhammad Mustafa was qualified for the appointment as EPI technician and medical technician and Naik Muhammad for the post of malaria supervisor.
He submitted that the agency surgeon did not meet codal formalities for the appointments and the posts were not advertised in the newspapers. The counsel submitted that the appointments were made in 2010 but authorities did not follow the merit.
