MARDAN: Awami National Party (ANP) provincial president Ameer Haider Hoti on Tuesday said that the federal government had been telling lie about the western route of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the merger of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).

Talking to reporters here, he said the benefits of CEPC project were received by Punjab and Sindh while the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was ignored. “We were assured that the western route has been included in the CPEC. However, the promise was not honoured,” he added.

The provincial president of ANP said the government did not send the Fata merger bill to Senate. Haider Hoti added that the government had done an injustice with the temporarily displaced persons (IDPs) and alleged that the funds for them were misused.

About the next general election, he said that no party was likely to get clear mandate in the context of the present situation in the province. “The electoral alliance with the PTI is not possible for ANP,” he said, adding that the revival of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) would not affect the nationalist forces in the province.
