Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) has decided to launch the local and international demand-driven short courses in hospitality sector.
This was disclosed by Chairperson TEVTA Irfan Qaiser Sheikh during a meeting on Saturday. He also said the Academic Department would conduct the Training Need Assessment (TNA) to finalie the contents of courses and explore the possible absorption of the pass-outs in the local and international markets. Irfan Qaiser Sheikh further said 3,000 professionals would be trained in different trades of the hospitality sector through these demand driven courses including professional cook, basic housekeeping, barista skills, front office management and food and beverage service. The said courses would be started in major cities of the province.
No fee would be charged rather scholarship of Rs 1,000 would be paid to the trainees during their training period.
Chairperson TEVTA further said these courses would be developed on the basis of Training Need Assessment/Analysis (TNA) with the help of industry and will start from January 2016.
At present, trained manpower in hospitality sector is urgently required in the Middle East, he said adding start of these courses would ultimately help fill the gap by providing skilled manpower to this sector.
