Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Khawaja Salman Raffique has said the Lady Health Workers (LHWs) are rendering excellent services for the prevention of diseases, mother and child health programme and Anti-polio campaigns. He said all the promises made with LHWs would be fulfilled and the work on their service structure had been started.
He stated this while presiding over a meeting to review the matters related to the service structure of LHWs, their capacity building, their job description and giving them the status of civil servant, according to a handout issued on Saturday. Secretary Health Jawwad Raffique Malik, DG Health Dr. Zahid Pervaiz, Special Secretary Health Gulzar Shah, Addl. Director General Health IRMNCH, Dr. Pervaiz Imtiaz and officers of law, finance and P&D department also attended the meeting. Secretary Health Jawwad Rafique Malik said the recruitment would be carried out on the vacant seats of LHWs according to the criteria and according to the rules and regulations. He directed the officers concerned to take necessary steps for this purpose. Khawaja Salman Raffique said the government would give the status of civil servants to the LHWs for which summary had already been sent to the chief minister in this regard.
