LAHORE
Lady Health Workers and Lady Health Supervisors from all over the Punjab held a protest demonstration on The Mall in front of the Punjab Assembly on Monday against the Punjab government for depriving them of their due rights.
Earlier, LHWs and LHSs gathered at he Nasir Bagh and later led a rally on The Mall where they staged a sit-in in front of the Punjab Assembly, which continued till evening. They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with their demands and chanting slogans against the government for not fulfilling their demands despite promises made in this regard.
LHWs Association President Ms Rukhsana lamented that the government had not been paying their salaries for the last many months. Besides, she said the government had neither given their raised salaries nor was giving arrears of the raise announced by the government several months ago.
Later, Secretary Health Jawad Rafique Malik and DG Health Dr Zahid Pervaiz held negotiations with the LHWs, which remained successful and the Lady Health Workers announced calling off their protest on the assurance that the LHWs would be given status of the regular government servants.
