A 28-year-old man lost his life in an accident between a motorcycle and truck in the Shafiqabad police limits on Tuesday.
Police removed the body to morgue for autopsy. The deceased was identified as Riaz, a resident of Farakhabad, Shahdara. He worked as cart-rider and is survived by a widow and three children.
The victim was going somewhere on his bike. As he reached near girls' college, Shafiqabad, a truck hit him. As a result, he received injuries while the truck-driver fled the scene. A passerby informed police and rescuers. They shifted him to a nearby hospital but could not survive. Police also collected forensic evidences from the crime scene and registered the statements of the eye-witnesses.
Family of the deceased refused to initiate any action. Police handed over the body to his family after the completion of legal formalities.
Body found: A decomposed body of a 35-year-old unidentified man was recovered from the Old Anarkali police limits on Tuesday. Police removed the body to morgue for autopsy. A passerby spotted the body lying on Napier Road in front of the Mayo Hospital. Police collected forensic evidences from the crime scene and registered the statements of the eye-witnesses. A police officer said the body was in a decomposed form that is why they conducted an autopsy on immediate basis. He further said the circumstantial evidences suggested that the deceased was a drug-addict and might have died due to excessive use of drugs. However, autopsy and further investigations would help ascertain the cause of death, he maintained. Police were searching for the family of the deceased.
Reunited: The National Highways and Motorway Police, Central Zone (NHMP), has reunited a lost child with his parents. The child was found on the National Highways in the area of Beat 24, Roshan Bhaet. Motorway Police Patrolling Officers Sarfraz and Abdul Jabbar observed the child namely Faheem Ahmed s/o Bashir Ahmed r/o Bahawalpur wandering there aimlessly. The officers made announcements in the locality and traced out the parents. The childwas handed over to parents in the presence of witnesses after the completion of due formalities.
The heirs of the child thanked NH&MP officers for reunion of their child. Zonal Commander National Highways and Motorway Police SSP Masroor Alam Kalachi has appreciated the efforts of the police officers.
dismissed: Chief Traffic Police Officer (CTO) Tayyab Hafiz Cheema dismissed traffic warden Yousaf on being absent from duty without prior intimation on Tuesday. According to a handout, CTO said that strict action would be taken against the officials responsible for negligence. He ordered the wardens to perform their duty considering it a noble job. He asked them to be polite and courteous to the public.
Notices: Chief Traffic Police Officer (CTO) Tayyab Hafiz Cheema paid a surprise visit to Sadar Division on late Monday night and issued show-cause notices to 14 wardens on being absent from their duty-points.
Six from Shadman Sector, three from Wahdat Road, four from Gulberg and one from Ichra were the wardens who were issued show-cause notices. Speaking on the occasion, CTO warned the wardens to perform their duty with diligence, honesty and responsibility otherwise a strict departmental action would be initiated against them.
Spray: Anti-dengue spray has been performed at Traffic Police Lines, Thokar Niaz Beg, and 19 different traffic sectors of the city. Anti-dengue spray was being performed at remaining sectors too. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Traffic Police Officer (CTO) Tayyab Hafiz Cheema said the spray was done for the health of the force. He said that only thealthy staff could perform their duty proficiently. Moreover, he ordered the wardens to keep their environment clean and did not let the water gather in the water-coolers and plant-pots. He further said he himself would visit the traffic sectors and a strict action would be initiated if proper arrangements for cleanliness were not made.
FIRE: Valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees were gutted when a fire broke out in a shop in Azam Cloth Market on Tuesday. Rescuers extinguished the fire. The fire broke out due to short-circuit in a shop at the market. Suddenly, it engulfed the whole shop. People tried to control the fire but in vain. No loss of life or injury was reported.
dogs: Qila Gujjar Singh Police shifted the dogs, accused of attacking a police party let loose by drug peddlers during a raid, to University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences.
A police officer said that a licence or certificate was needed for keeping such dogs as pets. He said if owner of the dogs had such certificate/licence, he could present it before the court and ask for handing over the dogs. Incharge Investigation said that one of the accused was on the run. They were conducting raids to arrest him. The arrested accused was presented before the court and was on judicial remand, he added.
On July 27, a police party raided a house on a tip-off to arrest the drug-peddlers. As the party conducted a on the house and tried to arrest two of the accused present there, one of them let loose the dogs at police party and fled the scene.
Police arrested the other accused and caught dogs and registered an FIR No. 647/15 under Section 3/4 of PEHO and 186, 353 of the PPC.
