PAKISTAN Army imparted professional training to the security guards of Government College University (GCU) for arms-handling and firing.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman also participated in the training programme to encourage his security guards and later held a formal meeting with 106 Brigade Commander Brigadier Akif Iqbal at GCU to express gratitude to army for their support and assistance to the university. Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor said it was a great honour for the GCU that it was the alma mater of army men like Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed, the only soldier ever received both the Sitara-e-Jurat and Nishan-e-Haider for his bravery.
He proudly told the delegation both Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Army Chief Raheel Sharif were also Old Ravians and had a great respect and love for their alma mater. Talking to Vice-Chancellor, Brigadier Akif Iqbal assured the VC that Pakistan Army would provide every possible support to GCU.
