Karachi: City police chief Mushtaq Mehar has called for tight security measures at all mosques, imambarigahs and Eidgahs on Eid-ul-Azha and ordered all officers to remain vigilant over the Eid days. City police chief Mushtaq Mehar has called for tight security measures at all mosques, imambarigahs and Eidgahs on Eid-ul-Azha and ordered all officers to remain vigilant over the Eid days.
Mehar has ordered all zonal DIGs to direct their District SSPs, SPs, SDPOs and SHOs to remain vigilant and adopt extra security measures. He also told officers to arrange meetings with welfare organisations, managements of mosques and imambargahs and traders associations regarding security measures.
He called for foolproof security at cattle markets and efforts to curb snatching incidents at shopping centres and other public places. As for forcible collection of animal hides, Mehar ordered all officers to ensure that no such incident is allowed to take place, stating that no activist or member of any political party, religious group or welfare organisations should be allowed to visit houses for hides.
Moreover, he ordered that no organisation should be allowed to established camps on streets or public places for collection of hides without permission. All activists of militants and sectarian groups should be kept under close surveillance; no proscribed/banned organisation should be allowed to collect hides.
Mehar said the Bomb Disposal Squad should be kept ready round the clock and called for proper security arrangement at beaches and public areas.
As for police deployment, he said 3,469 personnel will be on duty in the East Zone, 3,556 in the South Zone and 8,954 in the West Zone.
