Four people were killed and two others were injured in two different road accidents on Thursday.
Forty-year-old Zareena, wife of Nazeer, was run over by a speeding Khan Coach near Shafiq Morr, situated within the remit of New Karachi police station, while she was crossing the road.
The driver and conductor of the vehicle abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene immediately after the accident.
The passersby began agitating and blocked the road in protest. The mob also pelted stones on passing vehicles and also torched the abandoned coach.
Personnel of the local police station reached the spot tried to disperse the mob via a baton charge. It took the arrival of SSP Central to calm the agitators down. The body was later shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
In a separate incident, 49-year-old Nazar Jan, 35-year-old Irshad Ali and 40-year-old Abdul Rehman were killed while Imran and Abdul Ghafoor were injured when their Shezore truck collided with a dumper near the Lucky Morr situated in Yousuf Goth, within the remit of Mochko police station. The men had been on their way to New Subzi Mandi for selling fruits. The bodies and injured were rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
