The formation of a district education board would help the country in addressing basic issues faced by the education sector, the Dean and Director of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Dr Ishrat Husian said.
In a press briefing at the Karachi Press Club on Friday, he lamented that during his visit to a government school in Quetta, he came across a teacher from Lora Lai who was transferred to Quetta where already eight teachers were assigned for 30 students. He added that unlike the present day, the decentralization of education would empower the districts to manage their affairs in light to their needs.
IBA Director Dr Husain opined that the equal pay of the teachers all over the province is highly illogical, he added, “How can teachers in Lora Lai and Quetta earn the same despite facing an all altogether different circumstances and complications in teaching?”
He further said that the successful implementation of the district education board would shrink the ratio of non-school going students in the provinces.
