A group of primary school teachers organised a protest at the MA Jinnah Road on Tuesday against non-payment of salaries for the past year.
The teachers chanted slogans against the indifferent attitude of the Sindh education department’s Reform Support Unit.
The demonstrators who were stopped from entering the NJV School, housing the RSU office, peacefully dispersed following negotiations with a senior police official.
The protestors working in schools for the past three years claimed receiving letters of regularisation last year but had not received their salaries since.
“Other districts of the province are receiving salaries on time but we could not and unfortunately, there is nobody to guide us,” said one of the protestors
They demanded payment of all pending salaries with immediate effect.
An RSU official, however, claimed that the necessary procedure had been completed whereas the salaries were not being withheld due to them; the official advised them to meet
