KARACHI: The Citizen’s Foundation (TCF) School Hubco IPGDL Campus collaborated with Reon Energy Limited, to provide the school with an uninterrupted source of electricity, a statement said on Monday.
“I have been working as the principal of TCF School for the last five years. Due to electricity failures and off-grid locations, the school teachers and students suffer a lot. A lot of time, energy and fuel were lost setting up the generator especially in summers,” said Zubaida Abdul Jabbar, Principal TCF School.
The school, a pioneer in the TCF network in the South of Pakistan, now has its computer, chemistry and biology laboratories running on solar energy. A key aspect of the solution offers backup batteries to provide electricity during the night and on cloudy days. Despite the dire circumstances, the system was successfully installed within a month’s time, the statement added.
Wasi-ud-din, Technical Officer at TCF School Hubco said, “The environment at this school is now stress-free; installation of Reon’s solar panels is another milestone in the CSR Programme for HUBCO. The entire purpose of this installation was to make free electricity available to the school. Reon’s Solar system has saved us a great amount of time and resources. Teachers can now conduct sessions as per their schedule.”
Reon Energy Limited, the solution provider for the project, is the renewable energy company of Dawood Hercules Corporation (DHCL).
It is the largest player in the private energy sector of Pakistan – in total, controlling up to 1,800MW of generation capacity with ventures like Hubco, Tenaga Generasi Limited, Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company, Engro Power Gen, and Laraib Energy.
