LAHORE: The All-Pakistan Textile Manufacturers Association expressed its concern on Tuesday at the government’s decision to increase the gas tariff by 64 percent on April 1, saying this would hit the export-oriented industries, according to a press release from Aptma.
He said the textile industry was already hit hard by the over-valued currency phenomenon, adding that a further increase in the gas tariff would have a damaging impact on the competitiveness of the Pakistani textile industry.
He reminded the government that the country’s energy cost is already the highest in the region, the press release said.
