LAHORE: Volunteers and ambulances of Edhi Foundation (EF) Lahore will remain on high alert in the provincial capital during the LB elections. The EF spokesman said on Friday that the foundation had set up 16 points in the city, including Mall Road, Jail Road, Iqbal Town, Defence, Gwalmandi, Shahdara, Islampura, Misri Shah, Model Town, Baghbanpura and Wahga. Volunteers and ambulances would remain on high alert on these points to meet any untoward incident during the election, he added.
Man killed for injuring one in Bajaur Agency

KHAR: The residents of Kausar village and personnel of the Levies Force killed an unidentified gunman, who was accused of shooting and injuring a local, in Khar, the administrative headquarters of Bajaur Agency, on Friday, sources said. The sources said that a man, whose identity could not be ascertained, shot and injured a local identified as Idrees in Kausar village and fled the scene. Following the incident, the villagers and personnel of Levies Force headed by Tehsildar Faiz Muhammad chased the accused and killed one of them during an exchange of fire while his accomplice managed to escape. The body of the unidentified man was shifted to the Agency Headquarters Hospital in Khar. The law-enforcers launched a search operation in the surrounding area and arrested nine suspected persons who were shifted for interrogation.

Minor kidnapped four years ago recovered

KHAR: A minor boy, who was kidnapped four years ago, has been recovered in in the Utmankhel Tehsil of Bajaur Agency on Friday, sources said. The sources said acting on a tip-off, the personnel of Khassadar and Levies Forces raided a house in the Matako village and recovered a minor boy who was kidnapped in 2011. The victim was shifted to the Agency Headquarters Hospital in Khar for medical check-up.

Brick kiln workers stage sit-in

TOBA TEK SINGH: Brick kiln workers staged a sit-in outside the district labour complex on Friday. Addressing the workers, Labour Qaumi Movement district president Shabbir said kiln owners had promised to pay Rs800 for 1,000 bricks to workers but they did not fulfil their promises. He said the owners also sacked several workers.

Double Shah dies of heart attack

GUJRANWALA: Syed Sibtul Hassan Shah Gilani alias Double Shah died of a heart attack here on Friday. Police had arrested Shah in Rs2 billion financial scam and later handed him over to the NAB. The fraud was declared one of the biggest financial scams in the country. An accountability court awarded him 14-year imprisonment in the case. However, he was released after serving seven-year imprisonment as a result of a deal with the NAB that he will return money to the victims through it.

Girl abducted, gang-raped

PAKPATTAN: A girl was abducted and gang-raped here. Allah Ditta and Rafiq entered the house of Muhammad Yar Joyia in Chak 25/KB and allegedly abducted his daughter, besides taking away cash and gold ornaments with them. The accused took the girl to an unknown place where they raped her. Police have registered a case.

Four booked in Haripur iron bars theft case

HARIPUR: The police in Ghazi tehsil have registered a criminal case against five persons for alleged involvement in theft of iron bars worth Rs23 million. The iron bars were being used for construction of Motorway, Muhammad Asghar, admin manager Ghulam Rasool & Company, told police, adding, the camp of the construction company was established in Padra Mohrian village of Ghazi tehsil. On October 18 when the audit company visited the camp, 300 tonnes of iron bars worth Rs23 million, meant for construction of Motorway, were missing from the stock. On the application of Muhammad Asghar, the police registered the case against three workers of the company while driver and manager of the steel mills were also nominated in the first information report or FIR. The police have arrested Iftikhar, assistant store officer, and got his two-day remand from the court while the remaining four accused are still at large.

Cop’s killer killed in encounter

BANNU: The alleged murderer of a cop was killed in an encounter in the jurisdiction of Haved Police Station on Friday, sources said. The sources said that Shah Zaib, cop of Mandan Police Station, was killed by gunmen on Wednesday. Acting on a tip-off, the police raided a house in Alwara Pul in Haved area and exchanged gunfire with the outlaws. The ringleader, Kamal, was killed and his three accomplices managed to escape from the scene.

Explosive device defused in Hangu

HANGU: The security forces defused an explosive device at a market in Thall town, official sources said on Friday. The sources said the security forces had received information that terrorists had planted explosives at the Shah Market in Thall Bazaar. The bomb disposal unit officials reached the area and defused the five-kilogram bomb.
