ISLAMABAD: The pre-scanning report of National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) regarding NA-122, which created a controversy as Nadra denied giving any document to PTI chief Imran Khan, contains nothing but a statement that Nadra has only received election material.
The PTI celebrated obtaining of the said pre-scanning report without knowing that it only contains the list of the material handed over to Nadra and nothing else. PTI Spokesperson Dr Shireen Mazari told The News that the PTI has clarified that it obtained the pre-scanning report of NA-122 from the Election Tribunal through proper channel and not from Nadra. She said: “In wake of the Election Tribunal’s judgement in NA-125 that de-seated Khawaja Saad Raffique of PML-N, the pre-scanning report regarding NA-122 also became significant that is why the media was told that the Nadra report has been obtained by the PTI.”
Sources in Nadra said that handing over of election material is a hectic exercise as every single ballot and other election material including counterfoils, are counted and registered and a report is submitted in the ET thereof.
“The pre-scanning report contains handing/receiving of election material only which was carried out under the supervision of representative of Election Tribunal Additional Sessions Judge Syed Hamid Hussain, district and sessiond judge retired, who is also a signatory of the report,” said the sources in Nadra,
They said, “Thumb verification exercise mandated by Election Tribunal is a subsequent step of pre-scanning report which is in the process of completion and its findings will be submitted shortly. The handing/taking over was completed in first week of April and thumb verification exercise is being finalised within stipulated time of one month without any delay.”
The sources maintained that the pre-scanning report is a public document that Nadra has received with the election material and has nothing to do with the results of the thumb verification of voters. The sources said that Nadra report will be shared with Election Tribunal only and no report has been shared or will be shared with petitioner or respondents – Imran Khan, or Ayaz Sadiq.
The sources said Nadra verification processes are based on automatic fingerprint identification system and are performed without any manual intervention and the report that Nadra submits in the election tribunal is based on facts and supplemented by evidence.
“Nadra stands in witness box in each and every court to defend each and every parameter. There is no room for any manual intervention at any tier,” they said. They added: “All methods followed in verification processes are based on electronic systems. The systems or computers cannot be pressurised or influenced by any one. Nadra verification exercise is carried out in compliance with order and terms of references provided by the respective Election Tribunals and the report is meant for the judge who will make a judgement on its basis and/or all other evidences available to him.”
