ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid has said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Member National Assembly Murad Saeed’s fake degree case has exposed the real face of the party.In a statement, he said those who talk of morality have been exposed badly.The inquiry team has submitted its report to the Vice Chancellor of the university regarding Murad Saeed’s degree case.

‘Hazara projects should be completed on time’

HARIPUR: A senior officials of the divisional administration warned the authorities to ensure timely completion of ongoing development projects in the Hazara division and said negligence would not be tolerated at any cost.Talking to delegation here on Wednesday, Commissioner Hazara division, Akbar Khan said that all-available resources were being utilised for timely completion of ongoing work on a number of projects in the division. He said that the projects, including repair of the dilapidated parts of the Karakoram Highway (KKH), hydropower generation, providing of facilities to the visitors in tourist resorts and beautification of Abbottabad city would be completed within stipulated time.

Teaching hospital directed to install biometric system

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has directed all the teaching hospitals to ensure in and out of all the employees through biometric system already provided to them by March 16, 2015.Through a notification, the Health Department on Wednesday directed the three tertiary care hospitals in Peshawar, the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH), Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) and the Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) that as per their demand, the biometric devices had already been provided to them.

Three die as roof collapses

LAHORE: Three persons died while two others sustained injuries when a roof collapsed in the Chung Police limits on Wednesday.They were identified as Muqaddas, 17, Haseena Bibi, 90, and Mushtaq, 40 and the injured as Sadaf, 9, and Aftab.

Ulema urged to support National Action Plan

PESHAWAR: Provincial Chairman of Qaumi Amn Committee (QAC) Maulana Muhammad Shoaib has urged Ullema to support National Action Plan (NAP) in order to eliminate terrorism from the country. Addressing a news conference here at the Peshawar Press Club, he said that the QAC was working for promotion of peace and tranquility in the province. He stressed that interfaith harmony and brotherhood among all sects was a must for maintaining peace in the country. Condemning target killings, he said, “Islam does not allow killing of any human.”

Nadra extends date of computerisation of arms licences

LAHORE: The Nadra spokesman Wednesday said the last date for computerization of arms licences, issued from 2009 to 2014 has been extended from March 10 to March 25. According to a press release, the spokesman said the date was extended to facilitate more arms licence holders. He said so far more than 6,000 arms licences have been computerized at all 52 Nadra centres established in the Lahore Region alone. Among those, he said around four and half thousands licences have been computerized only in Lahore.

Filling station owner’s bail cancelled

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Wednesday cancelled the bail of a CNG filling station owner, Riaz, an accused of gas theft amounting to Rs 5.2 billion. The court held that those who caused loss to the state institutions did not deserve any concession. The trial court earlier had granted bail to Riaz. An appeal for cancelled of bail was moved on behalf of the Punjab Prosecution Department. Appellate counsel said Riaz had tampered with the gas meter and theft case was proved against him. He said that accused caused huge loss and did not deserve concession of bail. He requested to cancel the bail order. Riaz in his defence said that it was a made-up case and he had not committed the offence. He said he was made scapegoat and the department just to establish its ‘fake efficiency’ had lodged the case against him. The court after hearing the counsels accepted the appeal.

KP districts given Rs1 billion: CM

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that an amount of Rs1 billion has been disbursed to various districts for improvement of water supply, sewerage and drainage system, out of which Rs14 million were released to Bannu and Lakki Marwat districts. Expressing concern over encroachments in Bannu, he ordered to immediately initiate a special drive and remove all encroachments by March 20. He issued these orders while presiding over a meeting regarding development affairs of Bannu and Lakki Marwat districts here Wednesday. He ordered the TMA Bannu to immediately return the loan amount of Rs50 million to the district council.

Cop killed in Charsadda

CHARSADDA: A cop was shot dead over a land dispute in Shabqadar tehsil here on Wednesday, police sources said. Registering a case, Shami Roz reported to the police that his son Samiullah, who was an official of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), was on his way home when Iftikhar and Irfan allegedly shot him dead. The motive behind the killing was stated to be a property dispute. Taking prompt action, the police arrested the accused, Irfan and Iftikhar, and seized arms used in the crime. Meanwhile, Asad Ali allegedly shot and injured Salman over an old enmity. The injured was rushed to a hospital where his condition was stated to be stable.

FIA detects power theft

LAHORE: A team of FIA officials of Electricity, Gas and Oil (EGO) Antitheft Unit, Lahore, under the supervision of Khalid Anees, Assistant Director, Wednesday raided Habib Plaza Barkat Market, Garden Town Subdivision, Lesco, and detected electricity theft through a bogus meter and a neutral break system. The team registered a case, but no arrest was made. Another FIA team conducted a raid under Copy Right Act at Hamza Traders, Shah Alam Market on the complaint of a company. Two accused Farhan and Faisal have been arrested from the spot. In another raid, a team of Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) of the FIA arrested Tariq Mahmood and recovered 34 original passports from him. The raid was conducted at Al-Karim Chowk Haider Ali Road Township.

Terrorist arrested in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Wednesday arrested an alleged terrorist during a raid in Sarband, officials said. According to the officials, the raid was conducted in Sarband during which Abdul Aziz of Bara was arrested. The held terrorist was said to be involved in kidnapping of a local, Murad, for Rs5 million. There were reports that the CTD a day earlier had arrested two suspected terrorists belonging to Afghanistan from Dauranpur. Around 10 kilograms of explosives, five devices and detonators were recovered from them. The held men are being interrogated.

Explosives defused in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The bomb disposal unit officials on Tuesday night defused 1.5 kilograms of explosives planted in a plastic bag outside a house in Ganj. It was learnt that Bomb Disposal Unit experts were called after locals found suspicious bag outside the house. The BDU experts defused the 1.5kg explosives, which was stuffed in the bag.

Students protest against official
PESHAWAR: Students of B.Tech Engineering from various educational institutions Wednesday asked the government to replace the incumbent project director of the proposed Technical University with a dedicated and non-controversial person. Addressing a news conference here at the Peshawar Press Club, Irfan Ali Khan, chief organiser of B.Tech Engineers Association, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, alleged that the incumbent project director of the proposed Technical University had always opposed the students of the technology. He urged the governor and chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to remove the incumbent project director of the proposed technical university within a week. --Correspondent
