Capital Demolition Authority

This refers to the news report, ‘Capital’s Sector I-11/1 ‘Katchi Abadi’ no more’ (July 31). This is a blatant example of injustice done to the poor. The government it seems has left the poor to fend for themselves and has taken even their basic right to live a humble life.

This refers to the news report, ‘Capital’s Sector I-11/1 ‘Katchi Abadi’ no more’ (July 31). This is a blatant example of injustice done to the poor. The government it seems has left the poor to fend for themselves and has taken even their basic right to live a humble life. Now where will these homeless people go? The government should have relocated them before going for the demolition operation.
Is humanity doomed? Shouldn’t we be ashamed of such injustice with those people who do not have enough food to feed their families? Shouldn’t we be ashamed of the fact that more than half of our population lives below the poverty line? Instead of giving them food and providing them shelter we have made more homeless and pushed an even greater number towards poverty. The CDA should not damage property belonging to the poor just to benefit the rich who have the money to buy land. If the CDA cares for the poor it should stop its operation against slum dwellers, build them proper houses or compensate them so that the poor can find suitable living in some other area.
