This refers to the letter, ‘Pakistan Day’ (March 25) by Saroj Rizwan Khan. The writer has blamed the British rulers for Muslims’ backwardness in pursuit of education.
The British ruled northwest India for ninety years and during this period they established world-class academic institutions like the Punjab University, medical, engineering, commerce and agricultural colleges, etc. The standard of education was very high. Pakistan is nearing seventy years of its existence but education standards are abysmally low in our country. Our research output is almost nil. Other institutions like railways are performing very badly indeed. On the other hand, the world has witnessed remarkable progress during these seventy years. The fault is with us. We should do introspection and correct ourselves.
