Selecting VCs

This refers to the news story, ‘President interviews prospective VCs for three universities’ (February 3). The report says: “Instead of going by the usual recommendations and selection through official channels, the president decided to personally interview every hopeful, which appeared rare to many bureaucrats.”
This move by the president will definitely improve the working of universities from many angles. If former Punjab governor Chaudhry Sarwar could have consulted the president, he may not have resigned.
