Action against violators of Kite Flying Act ordered
LAHORE: CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mehmood Dogar has directed the SPs, including Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit to take immediate and non-discriminatory action against those violating the Kite Flying Act.
He directed that special patrolling teams should be formed to monitor any kite-flying activity. He said that 8,630 cases were registered while 8,735 accused were arrested for kite flying, selling and manufacturing from whose possession more than 60,000 kites and more than 10,000 spinning wheels were recovered.
Additional IG Ghulam Mehmood Dogar said that there was an urgent need of severe punishments to curb kite-flying for which Lahore Police has already approached the Punjab government.
SHO issued notice: CCPO Additional IG Ghulam Mehmood Dogar paid surprise visits to four police stations here on Sunday. He visited Naulakha, Yakki Gate, Garhi Shahu and Qila Gujar Singh police stations. He inspected the status of applications at front desk, attendance of police station staff, record registers, cleanliness situation and barracks.
He commended Naulakha DSP and SHO for good performance on completion of record registers, timely processing of applications, better sanitation arrangements and crime control.
He expressed displeasure with Qila Gujar Singh DSP for not proper lighting during inspection of Qila Gujar Singh and Garhi Shahu police stations. He directed for issuing a show-cause notice to Qila Gujar Singh SHO for poor performance.
Dolphins, PRU: Dolphins and PRU wings showed immediate response to the all 198 calls received on helpline 15 during the last week.
The officials checked 310,000 bikes, 354 other vehicles and more than 310,000 persons. They impounded 1,334 motorbikes, 10 other vehicles and arrested 396 persons due to incomplete documents. Dolphin Squad and PRU also arrested 63 persons for violating a ban on kite flying, 38 on charge of wheelie-doing and two for firing in the air.
Meanwhile, Police Judicial Wing safely produced 4,378 accused from District Lahore and 25 accused from other districts in different courts during the last week.
Around 70 platoons were dispatched daily to ensure security arrangements at various places in the city during the last week. Around 21 personnel of security division and 42 personnel of mobile squad were given fire practice at the firing range.
