MANSEHRA: District administration has warned the owners of compressor drill boring machines to abide by the sinking rates fixed by government authorities through a joint committee, otherwise strict legal action would be taken against them.

“We have determined hand pumps’ sinking rates, as owners of compressors drill boring machines while taking advantage of the water scarcity in the city and its suburbs have started charging high rates, which is unacceptable to us,” Deputy Commissioner Dr Qasim Ali Khan told reporters here on Friday.

He said that a committee led by him and including Assistant Director Consumer Protection Ibrahim Khan and Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Jawad Sardar Marwat determined different rates of the compressor drill boring machines, which were enforced with immediate effect.

The DC said that following the adoption of a proper consultation process with the relevant quarters, the sinking rate for 5-inch bore were fixed Rs300 per foot, six inches bore Rs350 per foot and seven inches bore Rs400 per foot.
