Wasa recovers over Rs47m from defaulters
LAHORE:During its ongoing recovery drive, Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) has received a large amount from its defaulters this week.
The recovery drive was launched on the directions of Wasa Managing Director Syed Zahid Aziz and during the second week of June more than Rs47.5 million was recovered from defaulters. MD Syed Zahid Aziz said Allama Iqbal Town and Ganj Bakhsh Town received recovery of aquifer, sewerage and water charges.
Cheques were presented to the MD in the presence of DMD (FA&R) Muhammad Tanveer and Director Revenue Athar Mahmood at Wasa Head Office here on Tuesday. Deputy Director Allama Iqbal Town Fakhr Hayat Wattoo gave details of the recovery. He said Allama Iqbal Town recovered a total of Rs27.5 million including Rs7 million from Jinnah Hospital, Rs5.4 million from Fazaia Housing Society, Rs2 million from DG Statistics, Rs3.5 million from Valencia Town, Rs3 million from Quaid Institute, Rs1.325 million from Punjab University Town, Rs1.8 million from Safari Park and Rs0.9 million from Wapda Town.
Deputy Director Ganj Bakhsh Town Murtaza Hassan said he recovered Rs4.8 million from Alhamra Art Council, Rs2.4 million from Civil Secretariat, Rs2 million from FBR, Rs1.5 million from Services Hospital, Rs1.2 million from Lady Aitchison, Rs0.9 million from Orange Line Train, Rs0.7 million from Highway Department and Rs0.4 million from Gymkhana Club.
PRA teams: Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) Tuesday constituted monitoring teams of enforcement officers in order to persuade the collection from public sector withholding agents.
Commissioner Enforcement Dr Javed Iqbal Sheikh instructed the Additional Commissioner Ms Misbah Nawaz to ensure timely submission of the collected sales tax on services by the federal and provincial accounting offices by the end of the financial year. On the instruction she constituted the teams which visited more than 50 government departments in a day and collected information about Punjab Sales Tax on services deducted and to be deposited by these departments during the month of June.
