London: A British police officer on Tuesday pleaded guilty to the kidnap and rape of a woman whose disappearance as she walked home sparked outrage and a national debate about women’s safety.
Wayne Couzens, 48, who served in the Metropolitan Police’s elite diplomatic protection unit, also accepted responsibility for the killing of Sarah Everard. But he was not asked to enter a plea to a charge of murder when he appeared at London’s Old Bailey court, as medical reports were awaited.
