No death as 151 test positive for Covid-19 in Sindh

No deaths due to Covid-19 were reported in Sindh on Wednesday. However, 151 new cases of the viral disease emerged after results of 8,000 tests were obtained.

This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday in his daily report on the pandemic situation in the province. Shah explained that as no deaths due to the coronavirus infection were reported on Wednesday, the death toll due to the disease in Sindh remained 4,482.

He said that the diagnosis of 151 cases against 8,000 samples constituted a 1.9 per cent current detection rate. He added that so far 3,233,544 tests had been conducted in Sindh, against which 263,663 cases diagnosed, of which 96.8 per cent or 255,247 patients had recovered, including 1,266 overnight.

The CM said that currently 4,085 patients were battling Covid-19 in the province, of whom 3,814 were in home isolation, eight at isolation centres and 263 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 243 patients was stated to be critical and 36 of them had been shifted onto ventilators.

According to Shah, of the 151 new cases, 80 were detected from Karachi, including 56 from District East, 11 from District Central, six from District Korangi, four from District South and three from District Malir.

He said Ghotki and Sanghar had 11 new cases of Covid-19 each, Matiari nine, Hyderabad seven, Mirpurkhas five, Larkana four, Jacobabad three, and Kamber-Shahdadkot and Khairpur had one new case each. The CM urged the people of the province to follow the standard operating procedures to contain the spread of the contagious disease.
