LAHORE: Senior analyst Najam Sethi said Wednesday that execution of four convicts of attack on Army Public School shows resolution of the army against terrorism.
He was talking to Aapas ki Baat host Muneeb Farooq on Geo News. Giving an in-depth analysis on current political situation and local bodies election results, he said action against terrorism is continued with full force and the Punjab government is taking action against hate-mongering. Sethi said the standard of the Punjab police has surged and there is peace in the Punjab.
He said Islamabad mayor may be among the independent candidates who will ally with the federal government, as they will demand designations in return for support. It will be good if Islamabad mayor is elected from the PTI. Sethi said the Islamabad results have affirmed the veracity of 2013 elections. Nawaz Sharif is not ready to leave CDA as is the case of Shahbaz Sharif with the LDA, he said and added the prime minister has appointed CDA minister two days before the election.
About the third phase of elections, he said voters of MQM will take to streets in its favour while some people have been disillusioned with the party. Meanwhile, the establishment and government are also against the MQM which will harm it. All parties look united against the MQM in Karachi which will dent it by 20 percent. PTI, JI and JUI are ideological parties and will reap benefits of this alliance.
Sethi said PTI will enjoy dominance in the Rawalpindi election while the Metro Bus factor will affect the results. He said PML-N looks strong in Sialkot and Multan and even in the Southern Punjab which was stronghold of the PPP.
About the Sindh apex committee meeting, Sethi analysed that merely 20 percent work is being carried out as per requirement of the corps commander and rangers while there is great harmony in the Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa apex committees. He terms the decision of making 30 news ATCs as important.
Sethi said rangers had done homework before capturing Dr Asim. The charges of giving refuge to terrorists and their treatment in Ziauddin Hospital is grave. He said Asim had returned to Pakistan at the request of Sindh chief minister at which Zardari had snubbed the CM. Sethi said the recent session discussed Asif Zardari in detail and opposed two designations of chairman and co-chairman. The meeting sought to make Zardari the Quaid of the party and give chance to Bilawal. He said Asif Zardari will agree to make Bilawal face of the party but will never cede decision-make to him.
