Wanted militant held in Kohat

KOHAT: A commander of the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was arrested in a raid on a house near Mohammadzai area on the Kohat-Hangu road in the jurisdiction of Cantonment Police Station, an official said on Saturday.
District Police Officer Sohaib Ashraf said that TTP commander Jamil Khan hailing from Tirah valley in Khyber Agency was carrying Rs0.5 million bounty on his head.
He said the arrested militant was behind several attacks on the police and security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh.
The DPO said Jamil Khan was wanted by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police for conducting blasts at public places.
Sohaib Ashraf said the militant had masterminded the explosion at the bus stop in the Peshawar Chowk in Kohat district in February 2014.
Several persons belonging to Shia community had been killed and injured in the blast.
Militant killed, target killer held in Peshawar: An alleged militant was killed during an encounter in Shahi Bala while the Counter Terrorism Department arrested a target killer from Kohat on Saturday.
An official said that on a tip off, the security personnel raided a house in Shahi Bala where an alleged militant from Hangu was hiding. An encounter took place during the raid in which the militant was killed, he added.
Meanwhile, the CTD during an action in Kohat arrested alleged target killer Israfil. He was shifted to an unknown place for interrogation.
Our correspondent in Mardan adds: Eleven Afghan refugees, who were living illegally, were arrested in the limits of Par Hoti Police Station, police sources said.
They said that the arrested persons were identified as Haroon, Zahir Shah, Asif, Tahir, Alam Khan, Kashmir Khan, Amanullah, Azam Khan, Shahid, Habib and Daud.
The police registered cases against them under section 14 of the Foreigners Act.
Our correspondent in Hangu adds: The police arrested 35 suspected persons, including six Afghan nationals during a search operation in various camps for Afghan refugees in the district, an official said on Saturday.
District Police Officer (DPO) Shah Nazar told reporters that the police launched a search operation against anti-social elements in camps for Afghan refugees, including Lakhti Banda, Kata Kanri and Mirobak Banda and made the arrests.
He said the police recovered a repeater, three pistols, two rifles and hundreds of cartridges from them. He said the police also arrested six Afghan nationals for staying illegally in the district.
