Badin villagers slam district admin for unfair ration distribution
SUKKUR: A large number of people from village Haji Hashim Khaskheli of Badin held a protest at the Badin Press Club against the district administration's failure to provide them with daily rations during the lockdown.
The protest was led by Abdul Razak Mallah, Salim Mallah, Javed, Latif Khaskheli, Mst Saran Thaheem, Jenan, Yasmeen and others. While addressing the protesters, they said during the survey for distribution of ration among the deserving families, their names were entered but they were ignored during the distribution.
Alleging nepotism in ration distribution, the protesters said they were suffering from starvation and unemployment and the government and elected representatives are not interested to help them out. They said they managed their lives as labourers on daily wages but due to the prevailing lockdown, they are forced to look at others for subsistence and are feeling let down. "Despite meagre earnings, our families never encountered such misery," said Mst Saran Thaheem.
Salim Mallah said most of the labourers, worked at different brick kilns but the lockdown has rendered them unemployed and their families are passing days in misery. They appealed to the elected representatives and district administration to ensure just and fair distribution of ration.
