ISLAMABAD: Twenty20 specialist Sohail Tanvir hoped to get a team of his choice during the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) starting September 4.

Sohail, who makes every possible effort to stay fit and ready even during days of isolation, said he was preparing for the CPL.

The left-arm pacer was optimistic on the CPL and its getting underway in time. “There is a good possibility that CPL will go ahead as planned. I am very much in the draft and my talks with CPL franchises are on. I am hopeful to get the team of my liking.”

He also welcomed the Pakistan Cricket Board’s decision to formulate a clear policy on cricketers’ participation in leagues being played around the world. “Though I am not centrally contracted but has contract with provincial association. I believe that four leagues for the centrally contractual players is a welcoming decision by the board.

“Previously there was no clear policy, leaving players and franchises guessing on the Pakistani players’ availability. Sometime these franchises have to look for other options at the eleventh hour, which totally shatter their plans.

“A clear policy would definitely help Pakistan cricketers as well as interested franchises in hiring and on the availability of players. Now I am sure everyone would see more participation of Pakistani cricketers in T20 leagues from here on.”

Sohail, who possibly is the best and most experienced T20 bowler in the country, does not lose hope of making a comeback in the national team. “I have been performing in the T20 leagues and am still the most experienced around. On the back of my performance in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), I hope to attract selectors for the coming T20 World Cup.”

“I pray to Almighty Allah to save us all from this pandemic virus and bring the life back to normal. Till that time indeed everyone needs to obey to instructions coming from the government and try to stay at home for the safety and wellbeing of themselves, their children and their other family members. For the last so many days I have restricted myself at home only.”He hoped to see the restart of cricket activities in near future. “I hope and pray for early resumption of cricket activities around the world.”
