Punjab Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din and Minister for Population Welfare Zakia Shahnawaz have said the implementation of Women Package-2014 is being monitored regularly.
They said this while addressing a meeting of the Implementation Committee of Women Package 2014 at the Children Library Complex on Thursday. Provincial Secretary Amna Imam, officers of Women Development Department, Parliamentary Secretary Rashida Yaqoob and representatives of health, local government, transport, police, industry, school education, labour and other departments were present.
The meeting reviewed in detail the measures for the implementation of women package 2014. These included job opportunities to women, setting up of family court complex in districts, provision of scooties to working women, amendments in families laws, representation of women in local government, health insurance for women, provision of ambulances, upgrade of gynae wards and theatres, inclusion of Punjab Harassment Act and Punjab Empowerment Scheme 2012 in training courses, technical training for widows of workers for the provision of jobs, encouragement of women for employment in private sector, setting up of cottage village in labour colonies, establishment of women help desk at police stations, awarding of contract of canteens to women in educational institutions and other measures.
The provincial ministers directed that a detailed report of the implementation of the steps under women package should be presented to them as early as possible and an assessment and monitoring mechanism be evolved. They said there was a need for improving the image of the country in international community. The ministers also took notice of the non-participation of the representatives of some departments in the meeting and directed that participation of all departments in the meeting should be ensured for early implementation.
