‘Pakistani govt working hard to improve economic conditions’
Japanese Consul General Akira Ouchi delivers a lecture on bilateral ties at KU

The Japanese consul general in Karachi, Akira Ouchi, remarked on Wednesday that the current Pakistani government was working hard to improve the economic conditions of the country.
However, at the same time he pointed out that law and order conditions needed to be improves along with strengthening economic policies and consistent efforts were required to have foreign direct investment in the country.
The Japanese diplomat said Pakistan had great potential for foreign direct investment but consistent efforts were required to make the investors feel at ease.
Delivering a lecture at the Arts Auditorium of Karachi University titled “Pakistan-Japan relations – prospects and opportunities”, consul general Ouchi said education system of Japan was one of the best.
He said though Japan did not possess any natural resources of its own, it had still managed to make a mark on the world because of its huge human capital.
He emphasised on the friendly economic and political ties between Japan and Pakistan which dated back to 1952.
Also speaking on the occasion, KU’s vice chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Qaiser highlighted the importance of student exchange programs. He said the establishment of Urdu departments in various Japanese universities was a big achievement for Pakistan. He said relations between Pakistan and Japan had always remained cordial and expressed the hope that collaboration between the countries would strengthen further.
The dean of social sciences, Prof Dr Moonis Ahmar, said Japan had bolted back from the disastrous atomic explosions to become one of the super economic powers of the world within just one generation. “Japan thoroughly deserves to be a permanent member of the UN Security Council,” he said. “Pakistanis must learn the art of professionalism from the Japanese.”
The KU registrar Prof Dr Moazzam Ali Khan presented a detailed review of Japanese culture and civilisation, describing them to be one of the most civilised and respected nations of the world.
