ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary committee on appointment of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and Members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will meet on 3rd December (Tuesday).
The parliamentary committee will consider nominations for appointment of members of the ECP from Sindh and Balochistan forwarded by the Treasury and the Opposition and their nominations for appointment of Members of the ECP will be forwarded to the Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser and the Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, who onward transmitted the same to the parliamentary committee for consideration.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has proposed the name of retired judges Sadiq Bhatti, Noorul Haw Qureshi, Abdul Jabbar Qureshi from Sindh while from Balochistan he proposed the name of Dr Faiz Kakhar, Naveed Jan and Amanullah Baloch.
Opposition leader in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif had proposed the name of Nisar Durrani, Justice (R) Abdul Rasul Memon and Aurangzeb Haq for post of member ECP from Sindh and from Balochistan he proposed the name of Shah Muhammad Jatoi, Muhammad Rauf Atta and Rahila Durrani.
Shahbaz Sharif also proposed the name of Nasir Mehmood Khosa, Jalil Abbas Jilani and Akhlaq Ahmed Tarar as a Chief Election Commissioner.
