DIR: Most of the teaching vacancies at the lone Government Girls Degree College in Upper Dir district have been lying vacant since long, due to which thousands of students are being deprived of higher education in their desired subjects.
The posts of lecturers of physics, chemistry, zoology, botany, mathematics, English and Pakistan studies have been lying vacant, creating problems for students who want to take admissions in pre-medical and pre-engineering disciplines at the college level.
Sources said that owing to the shortage of the science teachers in the college, the students could not get admissions in the BS programme.
Hundreds of girl students are compelled to study in the boys’ degree college in Dir, the sources added.
They added that the said college was being run with only a few lecturers including those for Islamiat, law, political science, Urdu and health and physical education.
Many girl students said that they wanted to take admission in BS programme, however, science lecturers were not available there.
Many students have taken admission in BS programmes on their own and have arranged private tuition classes for themselves.
