LAHORE: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar presided over the meeting of provincial taskforce on price control at his office on Tuesday.

The chief minister expressed strong indignation over failure in taking effective steps for overcoming price hike and added that the rates of essential items should be reduced. He directed to take strict legal action against the elements involved in inflation and made it clear that lip-service would not work anymore. Giving relief to the masses is our joint responsibility; he said adding that every step should be taken to stabilise the rates of vegetables.

The chief minister said that price hike was the issue of the common man; steps should be taken to give immediate relief to the people and implementation of price control mechanism should be ensured, as well. Everything is possible if one’s intention is good and why price hike is not controlled, he inquired.

The chief minister announced that he would personally check the rates of different commodities and asked the officers to go to the field and monitor the auction process in grain markets in the morning so as to ensure price control. He also inquired the rates of different items from Commissioners through a video link. He expressed displeasure over failure in complete control over inflation and directed to take immediate steps in the right direction.
