Protest over rape, killing of girl
BAHAWALPUR: Hundreds of relatives and locals Thursday staged a protest demonstration against the rape and murder of a girl. The protesters blocked traffic at Chowk Fawara and put body of 19-year-old girl on the road. Talking to reporters, the protesters said Farwa Shakeel was abducted by her neighbour Maviya and his accomplices, who raped and killed her and threw her body in Sultanwah Canal near Farooqabad bridge. They said, later Ahmadpur East police buried her in Azmat Sultan graveyard in Ahmadpur East after conducting a postmortem. They said they had lodged a complaint with Kotwali police against Maviya but police ignored their complaint.The protesters demanded immediate arrest of killers and fresh postmortem of the girl by the BVH Medical Board.
