ISLAMABAD: The sub-committee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Friday took a strong notice of not having a single drugs quality testing laboratory in the country and directed for its establishment.
The PAC sub-committee, in its meeting Friday with its Chairman Syed Naveed Qamar in the chair, directed for fixing the responsibility for the delay in the establishment of laboratory.The committee was told that the drugs quality testing laboratory was being established in Lahore now with the cooperation of the World Health Organisation (WHO).
The committee has also sought a detailed briefing on drugs quality testing laboratory.The audit officials told the PAC sub-committee that the National Institute of Health (NIH) illegally constructed shops and purchased vehicles from the Workers Welfare Funds and caused a loss of Rs1.394 million.
The officials of the NIH told the committee that the shops were rented and their rent deposited in the Workers Welfare Funds but no vehicle was purchased but only an ambulance was purchased.
