‘Foreign investment vital to economic growth’

LAHORE: Punjab Acting Governor Ch Pervaiz Elahi has said Prime Minister Imran Khan is working hard day and night with good intention for bringing foreign investment in the country.

Speaking at a dinner hosted in honour of Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce and business community at Governor House here, Pervaiz Elahi said suitable atmosphere is being provided to foreign investors and vast opportunities exist by formulating effective policies. Pervaiz Elahi said for restoration of national economy and putting Pakistan on path to progress and prosperity more and more investment is essential and the government of Prime Minister Imran Khan under its this vision is taking steps to ensure provision of all possible facilities and incentives. He said the investors in Pakistan will be ensured full protection because without increasing investment destination of change in Pakistan cannot be achieved. He said the Punjab government is also attaching due importance to investment on directions of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Minister opens PU bridge

rehabilitation: Punjab Minister for Housing & Urban Development Mian Mehmoodur-Rasheed inaugurated rehabilitation work of pedestrian bridge New Campus, Canal Road.

Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Niaz Ahmed, LDA DG Amna Imran and other officials concerned were present. Mehmood said this bridge fell down due to an accident. Masses especially students were facing problems because their campus was at one side of the canal while their hostels were on other side. The completion of the rehabilitation work would provide a relief to the students, he said.

Hanif Abbasi released from jail: PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi was released from Camp Jail here on Saturday, after his life imprisonment was suspended and bail application was accepted by Lahore High Court's (LHC) division bench in illegal ephedrine quota case.

The LHC bench headed by Justice Alia Neelum accepted Hanif Abbasi's bail petition on Thursday, directing his release from the jail on submitting two surety bonds worth of Rs10 million. A large number of PML-N workers gathered outside the Camp Jail to give rousing welcome to the ex-MNA who was arrested three days before the last general elections after anti-narcotics court awarded him life imprisonment in ephedrine quota case.
