Wasa to take action against defaulters
LAHORE: Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) will start a massive drive against private housing societies in the provincial capital which are not paying over Rs88 million aquifer charges to the agency for the past many months.
Managing Director Wasa, Syed Zahid Aziz, said that a special task force had been constituted to recover the pending amount from the private housing societies as well as for cutting their water supply lines. He said this drive will be carried out without any discrimination across the city.
As per the data available with The News, Rs1,800,000 are outstanding towards Abdalian, Rs900,000 towards Accounts Group Officer CHS (Gul-e-Damn), Rs900,000 towards AGRIS PH-I, Rs900,000 towards Alpha Avenue, Rs2,403,000 towards Bankers Avenue Housing Society (Bedian Road Across Hadyara Drain Near Bank of Punjab Daira Chal Lahore), Rs900,000 towards Education Town, Rs1,350,000 towards Ghee Corporation, Rs900,000 towards Greater Lahore Cooperative (Chinar Bagh), Rs1,199,700 towards High Court Employees Society Near Bagrian Chowk, Rs1,199,700 towards House Building Finance Corporation Officers Co-operative Housing Society (Kamahan Road Near DHA Phase IV Ghazi Road, Walton Cantt Lahore), Rs1,350,000 towards Iqbal Avenue Phase-III, Rs900,000 towards Lahore Canal Bank, Rs3,600,000 towards Military Accounts (College Road), Rs18,000,000 towards Model Town Housing Society, Rs1,800,000 towards NESPAK, Rs1,800,000 towards NFC1, Rs1,800,000 towards NFC2 and Rs900,000 towards P&D Housing Society, Rs900,000 towards Pakistan Cooperative (Canal garden), Rs900,000 towards Punjab Board Society, Rs900,000 towards Punjab Excise & Taxation, Rs1,800,000 towards Punjab Govt Employee Society Phase-1, Rs1,800,000 towards Punjab Govt Employee Society Phase-1/2, Rs900,000 towards River View, Rs2,999,700 towards Sui Northern Officers Co-operative Housing Society (Kamahan Road Near DHA Phase IV Ghazi Road, Walton Cantt Lahore), Rs1,350,000 towards State Enterprises Cooperative Housing (1), Rs900,000 towards State Enterprises Cooperative Housing (2), Rs900,000 towards State Enterprises Cooperative Housing (3), Rs4,500,000 towards State Life Insurance Coop.
Housing Society, Rs9,000,000 towards five accounts of Valencia Town and Rs16,200,000 are pending towards Wapda Town’s nine connections.
Wasa MD said that all private societies in and around the provincial capital were bound to pay aquifer charges to the agency. He said the agency was already planting trees in the provincial capital under the PM’s vision of clean and green Pakistan. He said action would be started against the private societies after April 15.
