Siraj returns from Saudi Arabia today
LAHORE : Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq will return to Pakistan on Sunday (today) after three-week visit to Saudi Arabia.
Senator Sirajul Haq was re-elected as JI Ameer for a second 5-year term by the permanent members of JI through secret ballot this month. He will take oath of his office on April 9 at a simple ceremony at Mansoorah, said a JI spokesman on Saturday. He would be received by the party workers and leaders at Allama Iqbal International Airport.
JI Information Secretary Qaisar Sharif told the representatives of JI’s sister bodies at Mansoorah that the oath-taking ceremony would be attended by the leaders of different political and religious parties, ulema and mashaikh besides senior journalists and columnists and office-bearers of the associations of people from different walks of life, including farmers, workers students and lawyers.
Meanwhile, talking to the media on Saturday, JI Acting Ameer Liaqat Baloch said the poor and middle class people had been badly crushed under the recent price hike and unemployment created by the PTI government but the rulers did not even realise that. He said the unprecedented increase in the prices of electricity, gas, POL products and even water was unbearable for the people. He said the government was forcing people to come on roads because of its incompetence and bad governance.
Liaqat Baloch said the misdeeds of corrupt people had pushed the country into problems. Wide ranging reforms are required to pull the country out the problems, he added.
He said JI would play an important role in bringing about the reforms aimed at restoring the confidence of the people and for their welfare and prosperity.
He also offered condolences to Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on the death of his father, Sardar Fateh Muhammad Buzdar. He said Sardar Fateh Muhammad Buzdar was a gentleman and a politician of high character.
