Robbers injure two traders on resistance

LAHORE : Robbers shot at and injured two traders and took away Rs 500,000 on resistance in the Badami Bagh police limits in broad daylight on Monday.

Police have shifted the victims to hospital and registered a case against robbers. Three robbers intercepted the victims identified as Nazir and Ali Raza near Khokhar village and demanded cash. The victims offered resistance to which the accused opened firing. As a result, they received injuries. Police reached the scene and collected evidence. Further investigation is underway.

outlaws arrested: Lahore police (Sadar division) have arrested 148 criminals and recovered 13 pistols, one rifle, one Kalashnikov, bullets, more than 12kg of Charas and 71 bottles of liquor. Moreover, 27 proclaimed offenders of A & B categories were also arrested.

Sadar division police have busted three gangs and arrested its eight member’s along with recoveries worth 985,000 rupees from them. Police station Raiwind city have arrested Boota alias Booti Gang and arrested its three members, recovering two bikes, two laptop, nine mobile phones and three pistols from them.

Police Station Nawab Town have arrested Muzammil alias Shartia Gangs along with its four members, recovering two bikes, two laptops and other from them. Police Station Township arrested Ahsan gang along with its three members, recovering one auto-rikshaw, three mobile phones and cash from them.

CCPO: Lahore Capital City Police Officer B A Nasir has said remodeling of old buildings of police stations into new state-of-the-art multi-storey buildings is in accordance with the vision of IG Punjab Amjad Javed Saleemi to provide better working conditions for the Police employees, facilitating them with modern infrastructure and beautiful environment. He said this while addressing the participants in the inaugural ceremony of newly-constructed building of Badami Bagh Police Station. Infant son of martyred Head Constable of Raiwind bomb blast Muhammad Saeed along with his mother inaugurated the newly-constructed building as chief guest. Lahore DIG Operations Muhammad Waqas Nazir, DIG Investigations Inaam Waheed, DIG Security Imran Ahmar and other officials attended the ceremony.

The building of the police station has been constructed on the covered area of four kanal one marla at the cost of Rs54 million in the duration of 24 months. B A Nasir said 12 buildings of old police stations of Lahore have been replaced and provided with new buildings in different phases. All the facilities of quality policing have been provided in the new building of Badami Bagh Police Station. Nasir expressed his gratitude to the sacrifices of all the martyrs of Raiwind bomb blast including Head Constable Muhammad Saeed and said these martyrs were the real face of Punjab Police who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. He said due to the sacrifices of these brave Policemen, public now feel more safe. The family members of these martyrs are part of the Police service and we consider them as our family. To lay the plaques of newly-constructed buildings of Police with the names of our martyrs conveys the message that the family members of our brave martyrs were our responsibility.

The purpose of construction of new buildings was to improve service delivery by the Police officials, he said, adding that, better facilities were being provided to Lahore Police as quality policing was not possible without providing good atmosphere to the staff.

While addressing the ceremony, Waqas said the newly-constructed building of Badami Bagh police station was a beautiful addition in the existing police stations of Lahore. It is only possible to achieve the targets of elimination of crime and maintenance of law and order by providing better atmosphere to police, he added. The CCPO Lahore along with other police officials also visited different sections of the newly-constructed building and inspected different facilities being provided there.

Torture: DIG Operations Waqas Nazir taking notice of an incident of torture of a woman in Baghbanpura has directed the SP Cantt to hold an inquiry into it and ensure merit. According to the initial report, Mubashar Shah, husband of Saba, had shot at and injured Ashiq. The victim got registered a case against the accused. On the day of the incident, Mubashar Shah’s wife Saba scuffled with the mother of victim Ashiq and later attacked his wife with bricks. An application was lodged by the victims on March 8 and they were shifted to hospital.
