KARACHI: The visiting Canadian Seniors cricket team was outgunned by Rashid Latif Cricket Academy (RLCA) Seniors by seven wickets in their second match of the tour here at the UBL Sports Complex the other day.
The Canadians showed marked improvement in the batting department as they posted 208 off 30 overs. RLCA, however, raced to the target with 3.4 overs remaining.Rizwan Qayyum struck an unbeaten half century, cracking seven boundaries in his 53 off 48 balls. Kashif Mehar also hit seven fours in his 49 off 54 balls to help the visitors post a respectable total despite left-arm spinner Kashif Iqbal’s haul of four wickets.
RLCA got off to an explosive start through the opening pair of Muhammad Rizwan (58 off 47 balls) and Aziz-ur-Rahman (22 off 12 balls).Mahmood Hamid scored an unbeaten 57 off 46 balls which allowed them to reach the target comfortably. Off-spinner Sayam Zafar took a couple of wickets for Canada Seniors.
The Canadians lost the first match against Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) Seniors. They will now be pitted against Rafiq Shirazi Club here at the Asghar Ali Shah Stadium before taking on Omar Associates at the Aga Khan University Ground. Upon completing four fixtures in Karachi they will proceed to Lahore to play three matches before leaving for Toronto on March 5.
