The dengue hemorrhagic fever along with typhoid has claimed the life of a young girl who was under treatment at a private hospital in Karachi, Dengue Prevention and Control Program officials said on Monday.
“Eight-year old Muskan Bibi, daughter of Abdullah, a resident of MPR Society near Qasba Colony, was brought to Aga Khan University Hospital last month and died within a few days due to dengue and other complications of the disease,” an official of the Sindh Dengue Prevention and Control Program said.
It is the only death caused by the dengue fever which has been reported to the health department officials so far this year, the official, said adding that over 321 persons had tested positive for the fever in the province, and most of the cases were reported from Karachi.
The dengue fever had claimed two lives in 2018 and 12 in 2017 in Karachi, officials and added that it was a mosquito-borne disease, which could easily be prevented by using mosquito repellents, cleanliness around homes and taking other common precautionary measures.
