KP receives fresh spell of rain, snowfall

PESHAWAR: A fresh spell of rain started in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other parts of the country on Monday with snowfall on the hills. The light shower that started early morning continued the whole day with intervals in the provincial capital, bringing down the temperature to 10-degree centigrade. There were also reports of rain from other parts of the province. The westerly wave is affecting western and upper parts of the country which is likely to further intensify from today (Tuesday evening/night) and grip most parts of the country and may persist in upper parts till Thursday.

Cloudy weather is expected in most parts of the country today. However, widespread rain/thunderstorm (with snow on hills) is expected in Balochistan (Quetta, Zhob, Kalat, Makran divisions), while at scattered places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, upper Punjab, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during (evening/night).

According to the Met office, Malam Jabba received 18-millimetre rain followed by Pattan17, Kalam 16, Kakul, Balakot 14, Upper Dir 13, Lower Dir 12, Mirkhani 08, Chitral 07, Saidu Sharif 04, Drosh, Dera Ismail Khan 03, Parachinar and Cherat 02.

In Islamabad, Saidpur received 04, Golra, Bokra, 03), Kamra 12, Gujrat 08, Jhelum, Murree, Hafizabad 06, Narowal 04, Gujranwala 03, Rawalpindi (Shamsabad 03, Chaklala 02), Garhi Dupatta 14, Muzaffarabad 13, Rawalakot 04, Ziarat 14, Quetta 12, Kalat 03, Pasni, Gawadar 02, Khuzdar, Jiwani 01, Skardu, Gupis, Astore 1.

Kalam received 08-inch snowfall, Malam Jabba 06, Murree 03 and Chitral 01. The minimum temperature was recorded in Kalam, Skardu and Astore -06°C, Bagrote -05°C, Gupis -04°C, Hunza -03°C, Drosh -02°C, Chitral, Rawalakot, Parachinar and Quetta -01°C.
