ABBOTTABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) may lose a few seats in the upcoming local government election in the district due to differences in its ranks over the award of party tickets.
A number of PTI workers, including its district president, have locked horns with provincial Minister for Information Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani over the award of tickets for the local government polls. The confrontation is damaging the party position in Abbottabad city.
The differences cropped up when the PTI ticket was awarded to Sardar Umair Anwar, who is brother-in-law of Mushtaq Ghani, to contest the election for the seat of district council while the PTI district president Sardar Sher Bahadur was ignored.
Sher Bahadur and his supporters are staging protests against Mushtaq Ghani.Two protests were held against the minister in Abbottabad, where he was supposed to inaugurate the election office of the PTI candidates in Malikpura.
The protesters blocked the road and chanted slogans against the minister. His effigy was also set on fire.Earlier, Sardar Sher Bahadur announced at a press conference that he would contest the election for district council as an independent candidate.
Sher Bahadur, who led the protest rally against the alleged favouritism in the allotment of PTI tickets a few days ago blocked the Karakoram Highway for more than three hours.At the rally, he accused Mushtaq Ghani of damaging the PTI and maintained that the tickets were denied to the loyal party workers.
