Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) chairperson Irfan Qaiser Shaikh Wednesday said priorities are being given to revise old curricula through special gap analysis study.
This exercise is being done in consultation with stakeholders especially taking into account the relevant industry through comprehensive survey by using special tool/questionnaire, developed for the purpose.
Addressing a meeting to review the progress of academics department, Irfan said the Tevta has recently conducted gap analysis seminars for revision of curricula of 3 years DAE Instrumentation and Food Technology at Government College of Technology, Railway Road, Lahore and Government Technical Training Institute, Gulberg Lahore, respectively.
According to a press release, General Managers Engr. Azhar Iqbal Shad, Hamid Ghani Anjum, Abdul Qayyum, and other officers were also present on the occasion.
Research and Development Section of Tevta invited the relevant academia and industry experts to get their input.
In these seminars, experts have recommended the changes in both DAE technologies which will be incorporated after following the procedure to revise them.
The Tevta chief added on the recommendations of the industry, the Tevta has also developed demand-driven short courses which include handy man, UPS repair mechanic, confectionery, bakery and sweets, call centre, injection moulding machine operator, customers sales officers, customer services officers and electronically controlled engine diagnostic and tune-up courses.
These courses will help Tevta pass-outs to get jobs in local as well as international market, he concluded.
