PESHAWAR: The police have arrested a close relative of a young drug addict woman who was found dead in the fields of the Pawaka village recently.
The young woman, Sapna, had become an ‘ice’ addict that had ruined her life. She was admitted to a rehabilitation centre in Hayatabad. Later she was found in the streets of the city, begging for ‘ice’ drug.
The family, however, took Sapna back home a few days back after which her body was found in the fields.
While investigating the case, police arrested a cousin of the woman, Daulat Khan, and recovered the weapon used in the offence, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations, Javed Iqbal, told a press conference at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines.
The official said the police had started conducting raids to arrest those providing ‘ice’ and other drugs to the woman at such young age.
There are a number of male drug addicts seen on the city roads but hardly any women are found.
“We are going after all those because of whom this woman and a number of other young men and women became drug addicts,” said Javed Iqbal.
Meanwhile, the SSP said the murder of a 15-year-old boy in the Rahman Baba graveyard had been worked out. He said an accused, Zeeshan, was arrested. The official said another group involved in robbing Rs 4.6 million from a trader in Shah Qabool had been busted and one of its members, Zar Khan, arrested.
Chinese engineer dies after falling from bridge: A Chinese engineer was killed after he fell from an under-construction bridge in Dubgrain area here on Tuesday. The engineer was rushed to the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital after the accident where doctors pronounced him as dead.
The body was handed over to official of National Highway Authority to dispatch it to Chinese embassy in Islamabad.
The bridge is being built in Dubgrain area on Hazara Motorway under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
