KARACHI: The rankings of senior squash players of the country slumped but junior players improved their positions according to the rankings released by Professional Squash Association (PSA) for the month of April.
The country’s top player Nasir Iqbal is once again out of the top-50, he is now ranked 57th.
Similarly, Farhan Zaman is 74th against his previous month’s ranking of 71. Danish Atlas is standing at 76th position and his brother Amir Atlas Khan is ranked 80th. Amir’s previous ranking was 70th.
Tayab Aslam is ranked 89th, Saqib Yousuf 130th, and Farhan Mehboob is ranked 132nd.
“They are not playing PSA events so the slump in rankings was obvious. They did not have big events in the initial months of the year,” said Secretary Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) Amir Nawaz.
He added that from now on they would play events ranging from PSA-15 to PSA-25, and that would certainly improve their rankings.
On the other hand, Israr Ahmed, Kashif Asif, and Huzaifa Ibrahim achieved their career best rankings by Asian Squash Federation (ASF).
In the under-19 category, Israr Ahmed leaped 14 positions to get the 5th position, beating Tayab Aslam and Asim Khan who are standing at number 6 and 8, respectively.
Similarly, Kashif Asif is ranked 7th in under-17 category. Huzaifa Ibrahim achieved number one ranking in under-11 category.
