Tributes paid to Jehandad Khan for serving humanity

ISLAMABAD: Rich tribute was paid to founder of Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital and former Governor Sindh General Jehandad Khan (Late) on first Al-Shifa annual day.
The late general had set up state of the art hospitals at different places across the country for provision of treatment of complicated eye diseases where renowned ophthalmologists are working. The incumbent President of the Trust, General (R) Hamid Javaid recalled precious memories of General Jehnadad who was called with affection General JD in his close circle.
Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed termed it as ‘heartening’ that private sector initiatives like Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital were serving to the suffering humanity, acknowledging its founder, late Jehandad Khan as a ‘role model’ worthy of emulation, who put collective interests of society above any personal interest.
Speaking as guest of honour at the day, he also talked about his old association with the Al-Shifa Trust Eye Hospital where he performed voluntary services, said that late Jehandad Khan had optimism, faith in the future and believed in team-work, all qualities which led him to build such an institution after retirement.He praised the spirit of volunteerism and said, “We should learn from Gen Jehandad who always believed in giving back to society.”
