LAHORE: Former MPA Ilyas Khan from Kasur called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. During the meeting, Ilyas Khan announced joining PML-N along-with all his colleagues and expressed his full confidence on the leadership of PML (N).
Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif welcomed his joining and said PML (N) is a real representative party of people and ‘our party has set records of public service’. There is no such example of development in history which took place in the last five years, he said and added Pakistan Muslim League (N) is the most popular party in the country.
Talking to The News, Ch Muhammad Ilyas said he had been MPA thrice from his constituency in thepast as an independent and had served as an adviser to Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif during his 1988 tenure.
Responding to a question regarding his move of joining PML-N as opposed to the current wave of exodus from PML-N, he said such waves do not mean anything and more often than not they end up creating rifts between the existing members of the party and those who join the party.
He went on to say that by the grace of God he enjoys a lot of support in his constituency and he is confident to win elections on his own. Talking about the state of voter attitude in the Kasur area, he said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz is the most popular party in the area and it is highly likely that PMLN will win majority seats there.
