Man suffers burns in warehouse fire
karachi: A 35-year-old man suffered burn injuries when a fire broke out in a warehouse of a paint shop in a multi-storey building at New Chali on Altaf Hussain Road on Saturday.
Officials at the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Fire Brigade’s central control room told The News that the fire erupted at 4:30pm. A fire engine was dispatched, and later keeping in view the intensity of the blaze, six more trucks were rushed to the site.
The fire engines took time in reaching the warehouse because of traffic congestion on MA Jinnah Road, the officials said, adding that the flames were brought under control several hours later.
Mithadar Police Station SHO Nisar Awan said a man in the warehouse suffered burn injuries, and he was taken to Dr Ruth KM Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi’s Burns Centre for treatment.
Officials at the Burn Centre said the injured man, identified as Ghulam Nabi, son of Irshad, suffered 30 per cent burns and was in a serious condition.
