Lahore: Punjab Bait-ul-Maal and Social Welfare Department held the Art and Craft Exhibition to promote women entrepreneurship at Alhamra Cultural Complex on Sunday.

Nawabzada Tahir ul Malik, adviser to Punjab chief, inaugurated the exhibition. Women from all Sannat Zars, Qasr-e-Bahbood and other NGOs set up their stalls during the event. It was aimed at exploring the markets for the products of women and show their skills. Women from across the province took keen interest in the event. Families visited the stalls and said such kind of events should be held everywhere to empower women. Talking to the media, the Social Welfare Department director general said the department encouraged the women, and provided them with a platform to display their work and skills on the national level.

Sanatzar oraganises different exhibitions to display the works of women. Sanatzar is working across Punjab under the supervision Punjab Bait-ul-Maal for women development. The institute also imparts training of different skills to women for their financial help, the DG said.

He said Sanatzar Lahore offered more than 100 courses. “We have hired highly qualified and experienced teachers,” he added. Obstetrics course starts: The Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) course has started at College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan Regional Centre, Lahore. Prof Duncan Edches from Canada was the guest in this course. Prof Rakhshanda Rehman, Principle FMC welcomed the guest in the course.

According to a press release issued Sunday, Prof Mahmood Ayyaz, Director National Residency Programme CPSP briefed the participants about ALSO course. He told that CPSP is organising this course in its 14 regional centres, including Karachi Headquarters, Islamabad and Lahore Centre. He told that CPSP organised 24 ALSO courses since 2015 till date in which 505 doctors were trained by international standard training. CPSP also organised seven ALSO instructor courses in which 87 senior doctors were trained to become instructor in this course. After becoming instructor they can give internationally standard training to the young doctors.
